Goodbye, Daniel.

Goodbye, Jane.

So here’s a thing.

In my stewing about last night’s episode, I brought up the point that JTam let Casey go unseen and unmentioned for almost an entire season and expected us to care about his “relationship” with Jane. Her reasons for the unseen are “guest stars are hard to book, u guise!!” Understandable. But here’s this thing… In the hands of a more competent writer and show-runner, it’s quite simple to make us care for a character that is rarely seen.

Noah Bean has only portrayed the role of Daniel in two episodes. Two. And yet you can see and feel all of the love that Regina has for him. Even when he is not physically there, which is 94% of the series. Through the story they’ve crafted and shown us, we understand what he meant to Regina and why she is still so torn up after so many years. That they were truly in love and that she still loves him to this day. (And this is coming from a Swan Queen ‘shipper.)

If JTam had given us that with Casey and Jane, I would be much more willing to believe this bullshit storyline.

youaredeceptivelycomplex:

Injury or not, love is about trust and commitment. About being with that one person, and being there for them at both your, and their, best and worst moments. Which is one of the things that bothers me most about Casey. Jane’s personality change aside, the thing…

My thoughts exactly.

This whole “relationship” with Casey is so fucking forced (and I’m not just saying that because I think Jane should be with Maura.) It definitely had the potential to be something if it had been written better from start to finish. Don’t ask me to believe that Jane is in love with that man when he was unseen and unmentioned for almost an entire season before he resurfaced. I will gladly accept both Jane and Maura in relationships with men when JTam starts writing those love interests as more than one-dimensional plot contrivances, and when they start having even one tenth of the chemistry that the women have with each other. Her method of story-telling leaves much to be desired, continuity between episodes and seasons is pretty much non-existent and she is one of the most demeaning show-runners when it comes to dealing with fans. I hate that I’m obsessed with this show!

dear janet tamaro,
one of your main characters shot herself and you never let her or her loved ones process that. your main characters were tortured by a monster who has haunted them for years, one succeeded in killing said monster, and you let them process that by attending a surprise my little pony party. your attempt to show us a “love story” between jane and casey comes off as extremely forced because you devoted such little screen time developing it. you wasted jenny o’hara in a ridiculously unnecessary role of random nun from jane’s childhood. you rushed the whole storyline of maura’s biological mother and treated several portions of it as comedy rather than the drama it really is. i can keep going if you want…
an exploration of the natural chemistry between your two main characters wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen to your show. you know… just sayin’.

this is one of my favorite scenes with them, because it’s so simple. just sitting that close to one another, before angela even joined them. these are the moments that speak to me as a rizzoli/isles shipper; not the ones where they’re like “let’s fake lez it out to make this guy go away.”
